It Is Time to Take a Fresh Look at LinkedIn

It Is Time to Take a Fresh Look at LinkedIn

LinkedIn has many wonderful attributes and a ton of capabilities and possibilities. You may have a LinkedIn account but, perhaps, you are not leveraging it as much as you can or should be. If you haven’t done so already, the first thing that you should do is to make sure that your LinkedIn profile is complete. Undoubtedly, people will check out your profile and you want to make sure that they are able to get to know you through your profile, want to connect with you, and interact and engage.

Leveraging LinkedIn to Manage Your Clients

You may consider your LinkedIn profile a detailed business card. Well, you are correct to a point. However, it is so much more than that and if you are not aware of all (or most) of its potential, it is time for you to become educated about all that LinkedIn has to offer. The fact is that everyone needs to manage their clients, whether you use some sort of sophisticated tool to accomplish that or not. LinkedIn can definitely do that for you. You just need to figure out how to make it work for your business.

When it comes to online social networks, LinkedIn is the one to use for professionals. You probably have all sorts of valuable connections that you may not even be aware of. One of the great things about LinkedIn is that after a person has created a profile, they are generally reachable at that particular URL for eternity. You will most likely find that to be a really great (and helpful) feature. In fact, not only does that information stay the same but it also gives you other valuable information that you will undoubtedly find useful. It tells you when your LinkedIn connections are having birthdays, work anniversaries, etc.

You may be surprised at how far a simple birthday or anniversary wish will go in your relationship with the other person when it comes to your solidifying your relationship with that person. You have probably noticed that there are two versions of LinkedIn: one that is free and one that costs money. In some cases, the one that costs money is superior to the free one. However, in the case of LinkedIn, the free version is perfectly acceptable and the chances are really good that you can get everything that you need from the free version without missing anything.

Turning to your LinkedIn connections for help

You may experience many times when you have a question that plagues you. You may not have the resources for that particular issue and you are not sure where to turn. Well, LinkedIn can certainly help. If you have a question without an answer, all you need to do is post it to your LinkedIn connections. The chances are really good that at least one or two people will respond to you. You may not get the answer that you are looking for but the responses that you do receive may bring you closer to the answer that you need.

You will see that people are generally willing to help you if you need them to. All you need to do is ask. Of course, there will be many people who just don’t know the answer to your question. However, there will also be many people who can offer their help to you. Having a robust network is a wonderfully supportive thing. You can thank LinkedIn for that.

Conclusion

LinkedIn is not only an amazing social network but it is also a wonderful way to manage your customer relationships and it has tremendous capabilities that can really bring your business to the next level. It allows you to connect and stay connected with your valuable online connections. It not only helps you to gather valuable information but it also allows you the ability to make the most of that information and to use it effectively for your business. You should learn about all that it can do and take advantage of all that LinkedIn has to offer.

Small Business Marketing - The Basics Small business management

Small Business Marketing – The Basics

Small business marketing is increasingly complex. The online environment changes rapidly so it is important to remember the basics of marketing. That is focus on the needs of the customer.

Profile Your Target Customer

Who is your ideal customer, what do they buy, why do they need those products or services, and why do they buy from you? Most businesses serve several market segments, each with different requirements. So it is important to identify those segments and build a customer profile for each.

Decide How To Reach Your Customer

What are the best ways to reach identified customers and market segments? It may be the best route is offline but more likely the most efficient and cost-effective method will be online marketing. Research what methods target customers use to source information. It may be via search engine queries, or possibly social media, or online publications. Whatever route is best, target your efforts on those mediums.

Be Found

There is little point in having a website if it is not found when a prospect types a relevant search term into one of the major search engines. Statistics show that over 90% of prospects never go beyond page 1 when looking for information. The same argument applies to social media. With any online marketing tool, the objective is to be found.

Build A Relationship

Once found, only a small percentage of prospects will make an immediate purchase. A much larger proportion will keep coming back to learn more and will buy in the future. Once a prospect lands on an online communication channel the objective is to start to build a relationship and credibility to achieve a sale in the medium to long term.

Convert

A relationship is of little use if it does not ultimately convert to a sale. So it is important to lead prospects down a path and specifically tell them what you suggest they do (calls to action). The process may include securing a prospect Email address (perhaps in return for a valuable download) to facilitate ongoing dialogue.

The key to small business marketing success then is to start with the customer. With the customer defined, deliver the information they need and develop a relationship that ultimately results in a sale. It is important to make sure the message goes out via a method that is most likely to be read and engaged with. Don’t be invisible, forget the marketing hype and focus on the basics.

This Is the Secret of Sales

This Is the Secret of Sales

Imagine if there was a secret to successful selling.

Imagine if there was one concept, one rule you could learn and follow, and if you learned and applied this rule, then you would successfully be able to sell any product or service you chose to.

And not only would you be able to sell these products or services, but-if you learned and applied this secret-you would sell more than anyone in your company or in your industry.

In addition, you would also be able to sell more with less stress, less rejection, and sales would actually become, dare I say it?-easy.

As you know, selling and easy rather occur in the same sentence, but by learning and applying this secret, they will.

      And here is the secret:

Sales is nothing more than a set of recurring selling situations that you encounter over and over again.

You get the same brush offs when prospecting, the same objections when closing, the same ghosting when following up.

Let me prove it to you: regardless of your product, service, or industry, do any of these selling situations sound familiar?

When prospecting, has a decision maker or influencer or office manager ever told you:

      • “Just email me some information.”
      • “We’re happy with who we’re using.”
      • “We aren’t interested.”
      • “I’ll have to check with my boss.”

And when closing a sale or presenting your product or service, how many times do you run into:

      • “That’s a bit more than we want to spend.”
      • “It’s just not the right time for us.”
      • “Let me think about it and get back to you.”
      • “I’m going to need to talk to the committee/boss/my partner, etc.”
      • “Can you email me more information?”

Now, I’ve never met many of you reading this right now, and I don’t know what you’re selling, but I’ll bet these cover 80% of the objections you get, right?

And that’s because selling is a set of recurring situations that contain the same objections, stalls, and you get them over and over again.

And therein lies the secret to successful selling:

Learn exactly what to say-in advance-of getting these recurring objections.

Now this may sound like a “duh!” moment but let me share another secret with you: 90% of sales reps don’t do this. Instead, they ad-lib, make things up, and use poor responses over and over again.

      Poor responses that don’t work!

      The answer?

Script out-in advance-two or three “best practice” responses to the recurring selling situations you get into all the time.

Practice, drill, rehearse these responses until they become your automatic way of responding.

Doing this will change your sales results, your day-to-day experience in selling, and ultimately your career and your life.

Your choice really comes down to: Struggle and underperform, or sell easily, confidently, and make more money than 90% of your competition.

So start learning and practicing the secret to successful selling.

How To Find the Perfect Salesperson for Your Team?

How To Find the Perfect Salesperson for Your Team?

I often get asked these questions in my business strategy session: “How can I find a perfect salesperson to join my team?”

If you have this question, this article is for you. So, please enjoy.

At What Point In My Business Do I Have to Hire a Salesperson?

Recall when you first started your business, you take your product or service with a view to making it as perfect as possible by, for example, meeting your customers’ needs, making it easy to use, or delivering value to your customers).

At some point, you will end up with “SOMETHING” that would make your competitors green with envy.

And more and more customers have come to take your solution so that they can get the results you promise to deliver and they don’t need to spend time and effort to build their own solutions. They would likely stick to you for the longer term and ask you “what’s next?”

      Now, your business is growing.

You begin to have a taste of “success”.

And this would likely be the time when you start asking the question “How can I reach out to more potential customers?”

The solution is “I have to increase my workforce.”

Your Venture to Hire Your First Salesperson

In any case, no matter whether you are hiring your first salesperson, or just adding a new salesperson to your existing sales team, it’s important to know how to spot a successful salesperson.

You need to understand what makes a good salesperson and attract the right talent to join your team and scale success.

If you can resonate with what I said above, please carry on reading.

I know it can be difficult to see through charisma and well-rehearsed interview tactics. What I do know is that the best salespeople have certain traits that can’t be missed.

To help you improve your success rate in hiring the perfect salesperson, I have identified the following steps to equip you with the right tools for your consideration.

And all good wishes when you make a decision to implement these steps…

Step 1 – Identify the specific needs for your new sales hire

      Is that obvious?

My mentor, T Harv Eker, the author of the Secrets of Millionaire Mind: Mastering the Inner Game of Wealth, said “The number one reason most people don’t get what they want is that they don’t know what they want.”

In our context of hiring a salesperson, there is no difference from my experience.

Before you hire a new salesperson, you have to be clear about what your business requirements and needs are. If not, complete this step first.

Are you sure you really need to hire another salesperson?

Can you hire someone who can work within your current system in your business? [Note: I don’t believe any candidate is a good fit unless he is able to do so.]

What qualities do I look for when hiring another salesperson?

What are my retention strategies so that I can make this salesperson stay committed to producing a win-win-win for my business?

Step 2 – Write the Salesperson’s Job Description

The second step is to advertise.

But… when you want specific candidates, you have to specify what skills the candidates must have so that they can fulfill their roles as effectively as possible. As a bonus tip, list your company’s name and contact information to allow candidates to do research on your company before they apply for the role.

Which skills do you think a perfect salesperson should have?

Interestingly, HubSpot recommends the following key qualities that make a great salesman in order to get off on the right foot:

      • Ability to multi-task simultaneously
      • Persistence & patience
      • Honesty & integrity
      • Creativity or Resourcefulness
      • Ability to learn & grow through experience
      • Solid work ethic & motivation
      • Strong communication skills — verbal and written; good communicator (both internal and external)
      • Good judgment; ability to make good decisions quickly in a fast-moving, ever-changing environment
      • Ability to follow rules/policies and procedures. Conscientious about details.
      • Willingness to sacrifice personal time for business needs
      • Self-motivated; takes initiative and keeps busy without management intervention

Of course, I am not asking you to look for a salesperson with all of the above skills. Go back to my first question about figuring out what you want.

Identify 3 specific skills listed above you are looking for in an ideal candidate. Ensure these skills are mentioned in the job description.

Step 3 – Reach out to the right candidates

In your course of searching for the right candidates, you are not looking for anyone and everyone obviously.

It is important that you find the candidates who share your core values and have what it takes to be great salespersons. After all, you don’t want to spend time developing someone who isn’t going to get the job done.

Here is an important tip – expect that finding the right candidates is going to be difficult enough without starting off with the wrong people.

Some people are perfect for the job, but just don’t know that they’re perfect.

Talk to them about what their strengths and weaknesses are, and make sure they know you need a certain type of person who will be able to handle your current system/processes. They may seem like an excellent candidate if you can tweak some of their abilities!

On the other hand, if it is apparent that someone is not fit for this role, ask yourself whether you can offer them other positions within your business or recommend another position they might take – even if it’s outside of sales.

Once again, depending on their personality, skillset, and experience. It’s better to give someone a chance rather than letting him/her go in a negative manner.

Bonus Step – Develop a clear interview process

We got this question in Clubhouse often – you need to develop a clear interview process.

You will look through a bunch of resumes and select a handful that represents the most qualified applicants who would go through your interview process.

A clear interview process should include clearly designed interview questions about

personal background or professional history, interests, goals

      years of experience in sales

Greatest weakness when it comes to selling?

Tell me about some difficult situations you’ve experienced in selling. How did you handle them?

Give them a sales assignment and find out how they would complete it.

Discuss their goals and how you can help them achieve those goals.

Summarize all information after this process and compare your notes to make sure that they are ideal for the job.

The result should be an offer letter, but before you send it out, ask yourself what you expect from your new salesperson.

Do you expect a high level of commitment to your company or do they have room for their own ideas in the business?

What is your approach with regard to culture and expectations?

The Outcome of Having a Clear Interview Process

Finally, after you have selected the candidates to hire, you have to think about how to offer a competitive salary and regular bonuses for achieving personal goals along with other intangibles like training programs and networking opportunities.

Offer an enticing package of these extras when you make the final decision so that candidates will be happy to work for your team.

Sometimes, it’s not only about compensation but also creating an atmosphere where people feel appreciated and valued for their efforts.

Even if they don’t seem like the ideal candidate, make an effort to get in contact with them anyway; it might be worth their while and they could have some useful insight – but only if you give them that chance.

Do not discriminate against any candidates!

You may think one person is better than another because of their gender or age, but there’s no real evidence to back this up.

      Conclusion

Finding the perfect salesperson for your team can be a daunting task.

I hope that the above steps will help you find the right person for your business and avoid wasting time on unqualified candidates. The 10 qualities of a good salesman that are outlined in this article will also come in handy when interviewing prospects so you know what to look out for before they even walk through the door.

If all else fails or if you need extra assistance finding someone who is qualified, let me know to see if I can help. Our team would love to work with you one-on-one!

Some salespeople are natural, and some require training.

Either way, we’re here to help you get the best salesperson for your business.

      All good wishes.

      How To Compete In Sales

      How To Compete In Sales

      The idea of competition

When I think about the idea of “competing”… I imagine two people trying to beat each other and it makes me smile a bit…

As far as I’m concerned, I’d rather dominate and win than just competing with others,

For me “competing” means starting at the same or at a similar level and I don’t just want t “try” to beat my competitors, I want to dominate in my field, I want to make sure that I find myself at a level that is so superior to the other competitor’s that he doesn’t even bother trying to overtake me.

      Compete with yourself

“Those who seek a better life must first become a better person.” Jim Rohn

The first adversary to your improvement, whether you believe it or not it is you.

Whether you’re just starting out or you’re already at the top of your game, your primary goal should be to improve yourself, to become a better person.

The beauty of our profession is that as we improve, our earnings automatically increase and as our earnings increase, our whole existence improves.

      The “Kaizen” Philosophy

Having practiced Karate for years, I’m not new to the idea of “Kaizen”.

The Japanese word “kaizen” means “change for better”, in the same sense as the English word “improvement”. ( Source )

This Japanese philosophy has been adopted successfully by companies like Toyota to improve their production processes and is based on the idea of a gradual improvement: In fact, if I try to improve 1% in my sales activities every single day, an improvement that may initially seem almost invisible, in just 3 to 6 months of doing it, I will create massive changes in my profession.

      Model the excellence

The main mistake of many salespeople is to try to achieve unattainable goals, in the shortest possible time, ending up disappointed.

Remember: There are no limits to what you can achieve but to obtain incredible levels of success, especially when starting from scratch, may take months or years of practice, but there are some good shortcuts…

To date, the best existing strategy to achieve success in every area of life is to find models of excellence, people with years of experience in your field that can literally save you years of errors…

It is extremely easy to find models of excellence nowadays:

Just follow Blogs, read books, watch videos on YouTube or find friends in your field that are willing to help you.

      Be practical

It is essential to have a clear goal of where you want to be and what you want to achieve.

Do you want to become the # 1 salesperson in your company or the CEO of the entire corporation?

Begin to outline your goals and divide them into small “chunks”, ie: Create monthly and daily goals so you can monitor your growth gradually.

Also, make sure you schedule your daily and monthly goals in your calendar so that you can keep track of them.

Here is a list of useful questions to start your journey:

      Who am I competing against?
What can I do to beat my competitor?
What are his / her weaknesses?
      What are my strengths?
      What are my weaknesses?
Where do I need to improve?
What kind of resources do I need to possess to achieve my goal?

Make sure to find at least 5-10 answers to each question, this will give you a precise idea of where you are in the process and where you need to be to achieve your goals.

I hope this article will motivate you to achieve excellence in your field and to become the best you can possibly be.

Share this article now with your friends and always remember: Sharing is caring!

      Real Estate Indian

      Real estate Indian: an overview

This sector is one of the most globally recognized sectors. In India, real estate is the second largest employer after agribusiness and is intended to grow at 30 per cent over the next decennary. This sector constitutes four sub sectors – housing, retail, cordial reception, and commercial.

The demand for office space as well as urban and semi-urban accommodations. The construction industry ranks third among the 14 major sectors in terms of direct, indirect. Brought on effects in all sectors of the economy.

      Market Size

The market is expected to touch US$ 180 billion by 2020. Housing sector is expected to contribute around 11 per cent to India’s GDP by 2020. Retail, hospitality and commercial real estate are also growing importantly, providing the much-needed infrastructure for India’s growing needs.

New housing launches across top seven cities in India increased 27 per cent year-on-year in January-March 2018.

Sectors such as IT and ITES, retail, consulting and e-commerce have registered high demand for office space in recent times. Office space demand in the country increased 23 per cent year-on-year in January-March 2018 with office space absorption at 11.4 million square feet during the quarter. Private equity inflows in office and IT/ITES real estate have grown 150 per cent between 2014 and 2017 backed by a strong attraction towards office sector

There were significant price increases, providing the illusion of handsome returns for investors and buyers alike. Combine that with the propensity to build ever-larger units at a higher price point, and most real estate is unaffordable for the average buyer.

      About Market

After all, how many people can afford to buy apartments worth Rs5-10 crore in a country where the average household income is Rs40,000?

With sales velocity going down and prices flat to declining, cash flows have declined and construction has slowed down dramatically. The slowdown in construction activity further sends the wrong signal, scaring the next round of buyers.

And I’m talking about the capital. Most of that invested capital has earned returns in single digits or in a majority of cases, been negative. And therein lies the problem.

The global investment herd is a backward looking pack. They primarily look at historical returns to decide whether to allocate more money to a specific market. In this sense, our record is abysmal. Couple that with the fact that we are nothing more than a rounding error in a global investment portfolio, and the probability of a large pool of equity capital allocation for India is low.

      Real Estate India

This is a huge investment opportunity, but you need to cherry pick your cities,” I recommends focusing on cities like Noida in greater noida and agra and investing in projects like ats happy trails, Ats Allure,Ats Dolce phase-2,Ats pristine Golf Villa, and Ats Rhapsody in affordable housing, as of now these project is going on this is very golden opportunity to invest in these project

Reasons Why You Should Read Romance Novels

Reasons Why You Should Read Romance Novels

Aw yeah, a good romance novel on a Friday night.

Favorite drink, maybe some chips and here we go.

Here are more reasons why you should be reading romance novels.

They Taper Into Different Types of Loves

Romance novels are great at diversifying love relationships. We can indulge in stories about billionaires, witches, shape-shifters, old people, young people, teenagers, secretaries, men, women, royals, commoners, clergymen, colleagues, and everyone else falling in love. There are so many sub-genres to choose from. You will have plenty of interesting options, and you will never get bored.

      Your Expectations Are Played With

You will never know what you might get hit with when it comes to a good romance novel. The twists are unexpected. People who show an aversion to romance novels think these books teach women to expect things in a relationship they may never get in real life. Romance novels do get your expectations high, but most people don’t really take life lessons from a romance novel. It is just a way of getting a person’s mind off any negativity and harshness surrounding the current world we live in. Sometimes losing yourself in a romance novel is just what the doctor ordered.

      Happy Ending

Sad and intense stories are great. They make for an amazing novel, but a romance novel will always have a happy ending, and that’s what most of us want to experience in our own love lives. A girl and a guy fall in love. He’s doing everything he can to sweep her off her feet. They start dating, getting to know each other. Besides, a few issues here and there, romance novels have a very light feel to them. They leave you feeling giddy and happy, resulting in an improved mood. That’s a good enough reason for me!

      Reading is Better Than Watching

Sure, there are a lot of amazing romantic movies out there, but reading a romance novel is so much better than watching a movie. You can go wild with your imagination. You can do whatever you like with the information you are provided in the book. For example, if the main character in the book is described to have black hair and green eyes, then who do you imagine he resembles? Perhaps Channing Tatum?

You can live your fantasies through a romance novel, and a lot of people do relate to the story to some extent. All of the above can make the experience of reading a romance novel far better than watching a movie.

Here’s a wondeful romance novel that you’ll surely enjoy.

A Menu for Smoothies That Are Low in Calories

A Menu for Smoothies That Are Low in Calories

Instead of the conventional breakfast why not try a smoothie? My recipe is simple, easy to make, and great for the health. Yoghurt is the base for it and the fruits involve low calories and low glycemic qualities. They replace breakfast cereals and morning snacks when done right and give enough energy to get you easily satisfied until lunch-time. The key is not to cheat by adding other things to the menu.

My recipe starts with a couple of tablespoons of an increased protein yoghurt. Yes, it is dairy but not as unhealthy as milk. It is also lighter in calories.

My selection of fruits is designed for taste and quality. They include strawberries; blueberries; kiwi fruit; apples; pears; passion fruit; and a banana. Usually four or five from this selection is enough. To this add one stick of celery, which is also low-calorie and good for the skin.

Whizz the mix until it is turns into a smooth consistency. Pour it into a large breakfast bowl and devour with a spoon. A hot cup of tea or coffee to follow after around 30 minutes to give the digestive juices a chance to do their work.

No weight loss is possible by diet alone because exercise is important. Muscles need to work and the body needs movement. Those who vegetate all day and do nothing but eat will always suffer from health problems. The heart muscles also need a good workout.

That’s why I joined a gym and spend at least 30 minutes a day on the bike followed by a work-out on the other machines. Stretching the neck, back, and thigh muscles is a must. Balance is also important and if one can get some PT training through classes at the facility they are a good addition to the regime. Don’t be put off by paying small fees as there is nothing more important than good health and keeping fit.

What Might Be Next In The Economy?

Since, we don’t have a crystal ball, it is impossible to predict, accurately, the future! This is especially true, when, it comes to economic issues, including investment, real estate, interest rates, inflationary pressures, government actions, international factors, etc. What are the ramifications of inflation, recession, interest rates, Federal Reserve Bank decisions, etc.? How can one, hedge – his – bet, in order to minimize unnecessary risks, while receiving a quality return, also? There is no simple answer, because so many factors, have significant influences. With, that in mind, this article will attempt to briefly, consider, examine and review potential factors, in order to help readers, have a more – complete understanding of the possibilities.

      1) Interest rates:

We have experienced a prolonged period of historically – low – interest rates. This has created easy money, because the cost of borrowing is so low. Both individuals and corporations have benefited, at least, in the immediate- term, permitting home buyers to purchase more house, because their monthly charges, are low, due to low mortgage rates. Corporate and government bonds, and banks, have paid low returns. It has stemmed, inflation, and created a rise in home prices, we haven’t witnessed, in recent memory. The Federal Reserve Bank has signaled they will be ending this propping – up, and will also raise rates, probably three times, in 2022. What do you think that will cause.

      2) Auto loans, consumer loans, borrowing:

The auto industry has been, significantly, impacted by supply chain challenges. When rates rise, auto loans and leases, will be more costly.

      3) This pattern began after the Tax Reform legislation:

Passed at the end of 2017, which created the initial, new, trillion dollars deficits

      4) Government spending:

Caused by the financial suffering and challenges, because of shut downs, etc, because of the pandemic, created trillions more in debt. Unfortunately, debt must be eventually addressed.

      5) Perception and attitude:

The past couple of years, apparently, created a public perception, plus many fears, with a crippling economic impact.

Either, we begin to plan, effectively, and with common sense and an open – mind, many will be at – risk. Wake up, America, and demand better leadership, service and representation.

The Easiest and Hardest Part of Phone Sales

The Ask. Yes… both the easiest and hardest part of the phone sale. Quite an interesting enigma, right? Yes again, but let’s unpack this further. Phone selling is both an art and science and it follows a logical path (maybe a little nonlinear at times, but nonetheless there’s an end goal). Depending on the solution you’re offering to the prospect, there’s usually a lead up to the Ask.

Present the Purpose of the Call Clearly and Directly

For starters, remember to accomplish (when and if possible) the goal of making the call. This can be to set up an appointment, to introduce yourself, your business, and product and / or service, or to speak with the Decision Maker. By stating the purpose of the call (and thus moving toward the goal of the call), you minimize wasting time with uninterested and unqualified prospects and you maximize your ability to make more calls, reach more people, and close more sales. Here’s some great advice: it often helps (actually, the value of having this is more than I can put into words) to have a script available during the call just in case you get off track. Scripts aid you in staying focused and moving the call forward.

Listen Prior to Making the Ask

Unless you’re a telemarketer and are intent on blasting your prospects with a “canned” message regardless of their responses, then by all means, spray on. OK, kidding aside, prior to making the Ask, listen… listen… listen. Here’s the key in listening when conducting a sales call: don’t, I repeat, don’t answer the prospect in your head while they are talking. Don’t do it. Here’s why: you’ll learn that by keeping your mind still and clear without interrupting the prospect in your head or verbally, you’ll have given the prospect something that will often be reciprocated to you in full measure: “uninterrupted time for response”. Sounds weird… yes, but does it work? oh yes. I learned this technique from Stephen Schiffmann and it really works.

Remember, plan the call (set a goal and use a script), initiate contact, state the purpose of your call directly and clearly, and listen. After listening both consciously and subconsciously, if and when appropriate, make the Ask.

Mars call center blog post title - Who is more intelligent and clever ?

Who Is More Intelligent and Clever? Male or Female?

Who is more intelligent and clever? Male or female? This question is being put by the world from time immemorial. Scholars are of different opinions. Some say male and others say female.

But a fitting answer has been given by a Tamil poet by name Karmega kavignar.
He has written a book titled ‘Kongu mandala sathakam’ in which he has answered this question. Kongu mandalam is the present Coimbatore region of Tamilnadu, India. This sathakam consists of one hundred verses which gives the glory of this famous region.
In verse no 65 the poet gives a real story that has happened in Sangagiri, a small city in Kongu area.

Once there lived a great poet by name Emperuman. He has composed a great work called ‘Takkai isai Ramayanam” His name and fame was spread through out the far off land and many poets were became his friends.

They used to come to Karamega kavignar’s house for useful literary debate.
Once as usual some scholars came to his house. But the poet was not there as he was away to complete an urgent task.

His wife Poongothai, by name, was very intelligent and clever. As per the practice of the olden days, she kept herself inside the house and the scholars sat on the small frontal area of the house. They started chatting.

How to Apply For a Job Online – Tips For Newbies

During the course of their talk one poet said casually that even though the women are learned one can not expect them to be matured. The other one said the women in general are not at all intelligent and clever. The third one said they are meant only for cooking and bringing up the children.

Poongothai who was inside the front hall of the house listened all this debate.
All these points were heard by Poongothai. Immediately she has written a poem in a Venba format, a kind of prosody in Tamil, in a small palm leaf and sent it to the debating geniuses through a small child.

The poem written by her was read out loudly. It said, ” In fact only female are more matured and male are less intelligent and not at all that much clever. Can’t you realize, oh, a woman only understands once she conceives. But no man under the earth could understand ever whether he has given a birth to a boy or girl.”

All the poets were very much shocked to see this meaningful poem. This poem gave a great insight to all of them.

Suddenly all of them burst in to the hall and prostrated before Poongothai and apologized. They beg her to pardon them.

At the very moment the great poet, Poongothai’s husband entered into the house and was bewildered to see all of his friends were at the feet of his wife.

      He learned what had happened.

Everybody praised both the husband and wife and the news spread like a wildfire.
The King also heard this incident and he called on the poet and prostrated before Poongoathai.

Poongothai thus became very famous and the very difficult question was thus answered fittingly.

A classic work in Tamil called ‘ Neeti Venba’ in one of its verses (verse no 30) defines a perfect woman thus:

She will be beautiful like a gold. She will have the patience like the earth. She who has the beautiful breasts will give sexual satisfaction in the bed to her husband like a prostitute and she will help her husband like a learned minister at all times.

True, Women are great, more intelligent and more cleverer than man!

      Any objection?!

How to Find a Job Fast – Six Steps to Success

You were dismissed? Resigned yourself? Or just finished college? There are many reasons to find a job as fast as possible. For example, it looks good to have a gap-free resume. That’s why it’s advisable to start checking job ads as soon as possible. Make sure you adopt the following strategies to increase your chances to get hired considerably.

      1) Networking everyone you know should know about your job hunt

If you see a shooting star or blow your birthday candles, you’re not allowed to tell your wish or it will never come true. In fact, that’s a lie!

      • Tell everyone you know that you are looking for a job. You never know who might know someone whose friend’s uncle is hiring.
      • Don’t be too shy to ask people if the company they’re working at is hiring. Try to find opportunities anywhere.
      • The more people you tell that you’re seeking work the higher the probability that someone can help you.
      • Use your acquaintances’ reach by asking them to ask around among their relationships for you. Reach out to former colleagues, chefs, lecturers, etc. and find out if they have heard about open positions.
      • Post on social media that you need a job to reach out to acquaintances that you don’t see regularly. Join groups in which job offers are shared and follow companies that your are interested in to see their vacancies first.

      2) Apply anyway

In job advertisements companies describe their ideal candidate. Most of the time they have to accept compromises like everyone else. It’s very rare that you find your perfect job, the same applies to companies looking for their ideal candidate.

Dare to apply anyway – even if you don’t fulfill every single specification they list. As long as you match the main requirements there’s a good chance they’ll hire you because they can’t find anyone better. You can probably learn the less important skills during the training period or do a course on the side.

      3) Take advantage of the classifieds

      • Buy some newspapers and check out their classifieds section. They still have sections about the job market with job ads you might not find online.
      • Also check out classifieds websites. There you can find thousands of jobs usually grouped by location and professional field.
      • A third option are classifieds search engines, that collect and list job ads from several pages. They help you save time and effort because you don’t need to check multiple pages. Nevertheless, you should research if you can find other pages that have vacancies that are not listed in the classifieds pages.

See the next tip to learn how you can use websites that list jobs as efficiently as possible.

      4) Get the most out of job websites

Most aggregators provide features that facilitate finding the right search results. Use these by exploring the enhanced search options: For example search by keyword, location, job title etc. or try combining several parameters to get better results.

No matter if you are on a job search website or a classifieds site, they usually offer free email alerts. There you can register with your email address, choose the right keywords or even save an advanced search and they will send you new job listing via email. That way you don’t have to check the pages over and over again. Instead you get the newest job postings automatically to your inbox.

With these functions you can make sure that you don’t waste your time on job aggregator pages that don’t have the jobs you are looking for. Yet, you can still keep up to date if they gain matching vacancies.

      5) Ask for feedback

It’s hard when your job application is rejected. It’s even harder when you put great effort into your application and really wanted that job. To improve future applications you should not want to leave it here. Overcome your pride and ask them for the reason they turned you down. The answer might hurt, but that’s the only way to learn from your mistakes. Maybe the HR representative can give you a helpful advice that makes you get the next job you’re going to apply for.

      6) Just keep applying. Just keep applying.

This advice not only relates to situations in which your application was turned down and you need to move on and apply to other companies. But you also should keep on applying for jobs while you are waiting to hear back from a company. Even if you’re absolutely sure that they are going to hire you, don’t stop applying until you signed a contract, because unexpected events can always happen. The worst thing that could happen is that you get offered more than one position and will be in the lucky situation to choose.

Job Search: 7 Tips for Successful Phone Interviews

The phone interview is such a crucial part of the hiring phase because if you can’t make a good first impression on the phone, your chances of being invited for an in-person interview are nil. Below are 7 tips to keep in mind for successful phone interviews.

      1. Choose a quiet environment.

Be sure you’re taking the call in a place where you won’t be distracted and where you won’t have background noises such as the television, radio, dogs barking, kids crying, etc. For example, if you are surprised by a call on your cell phone while at the grocery store, ask the person if you can call them right back or put them on hold until you can find a quiet, secluded place to speak. Better yet, ask the caller if you can schedule the interview for a mutually convenient time, preferably for when you can be away from the commotion and can take notes.

      2. Prepare as you would for an in-person interview.

You might be the type who can answer questions on the fly, and maybe you know the job description quite well by heart. Still, it’s best to prepare ahead of time and have your notes, the job description, your resume, and whatever other reference materials you need within reach. The majority of phone interviews are efficient screening calls made by recruiters. They want to know if you fit the criteria of the job description and if your salary is in the ballpark. Experienced recruiters can usually determine this pretty quickly. However, you might find that some recruiters prefer to have a more in-depth conversation with you, and sometimes it’s the hiring manager who conducts the phone interview. Just in case, you should prepare as you would for a full-fledged, in-person interview.

      3. Be prepared to answer screening-out questions.

The typical purpose of the phone interview is to screen out candidates. The interviewer is looking for red flags. He or she is trying to narrow the field of candidates and select the best matches to invite in for a face-to-face interview. You’ll get questions like:

      • Why are you looking for a new position? (Answer in a positive way no matter how unhappy you are about your situation!)
      • Walk me through your background. Why did you leave here, why did you leave there… ? (Always give a positive spin to your reason for leaving. Talk about what you did in your previous experience as it relates back to the position at hand.)
      • What are your strengths/weaknesses?
      • What was your biggest accomplishment during your last position?
      • What specific projects have you worked on?
      • Why are you interested in our position/company?

      4. Engage with good questions.

First of all, definitely ask questions. However, don’t ask what could appear to be “it’s all about me” questions. Also, at this stage, it’s better for the interviewer to be the one who mentions money or benefits. These are topics that you might have to address when asked about them during a phone interview, but they’re best left, if at all possible, until the later and/or final stages of the hiring process. Your only goal at this point should be to convince the interviewer that your skills and experience fit their needs. Ask the interviewer how success is defined for this position. Ask the interviewer what are the most important elements of the job description. Ask the interviewer why the position is open. Those are examples of good questions for a phone interview. And, of course, listen well to their responses, taking notes if you can.

      5. Speak clearly.

This might be an obvious tip, but it’s such a vital thing to remember with phone interviews because it’s through your words and your tone of voice that you get the chance to make a great impression. Keep the mouthpiece near your mouth. Don’t chew gum, eat, drink, or smoke. Sounds are amplified over the phone – the sounds of smacking, chewing, swallowing, and inhaling/exhaling are certain to be picked up. Besides, if your mouth is busy with that other activity, you won’t be as coherent as you need to be when you need to speak.

      6. Use the name of your interviewer.

Write down the name of the interviewer when you first hear it, and use it occasionally throughout the conversation. People like the sound of their own name, and this easy tip will go a long way in helping you to build rapport. Beware that you don’t overdo it though. The key word here is “occasionally.” Using a person’s name every time you respond could sound contrived and unnatural.

      7. Smile.

Let the interviewer “hear the smile” in your voice. Some experts says that you should prop up a mirror where you are doing the interview so that you can observe yourself and, therefore, remind yourself to smile. If you prefer not to do that, at least have a post-it note with the word “smile” written on it, and put it where you’ll see it during the call. Phone interviewing deprives you of the chance to communicate your excitement and interest through your facial expressions and eye contact. Your voice is the only way you have to project positive energy and convey how you feel. You’ll naturally feel more enthusiastic when you smile, and your voice will definitely reflect your smile.
